Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb cocktail sausages or Lil’ Smokies Substitute with turkey or chicken sausages for a healthier option.
  • 1 cup fresh pineapple, cut into bite-sized chunks Canned pineapple can be substituted; drain well to avoid excess moisture.
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar Coconut sugar can be used for a more earthy flavor.
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce Use low-sodium soy sauce for a healthier option.
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard Yellow mustard is an alternative but offers a slightly less complex flavor.
  • 1 tsp garlic powder Fresh garlic can be substituted; use sparingly as it has a stronger flavor.
  • 1 tsp ground ginger Fresh ginger can enhance the flavor, use one teaspoon of finely grated.
  • Wooden or metal skewers If using wooden skewers, soak in water for 20-30 minutes to prevent burning.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Soak wooden skewers in water for 20-30 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment or foil.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, soy sauce, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, and ground ginger to create the glaze.

Assembly and Cooking

  • Thread the cocktail sausages and fresh pineapple onto the soaked skewers, alternating between the two.
  • Place the skewers on the lined baking sheet and brush them generously with the glaze.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes, turning halfway through and brushing with additional glaze for a caramelized finish.
  • Broil for 1-2 minutes until the skewers are slightly charred, keeping a close eye on them.
  • Serve warm on a platter and enjoy!
